I didn't know these were rare. I have few at home. Should I be selling them?

Nah send 'em to me I'll double your investment for you at a DIME each. Tee Tee Tee...:111::111::111:

Coin World ask every member receiving their weekly journal to notify them IF THEY FIND JUST ONE 2009 DIME OR NICKLE

so perhaps they might be a tad rare. UNDERSTATEMENT noted!

In the great depression the US Mint copied what it's doing today =

made 220 million coins in one example one year 1929 - by 1930ish it was down to 20 million coins.

I like this part of the auction best.

"2009 Nickels are very rare, the mint has absolutely stopped all mintage of nickels and dimes. The 2009 Nickels by far are the rarest of both denominations with only 39,840,000 minted. "

I never knew "rare" and "39 million" could be used in the same sentence.

Maybe not rare, but the mintages for nickels are usually in the hundreds of millions, so 39m would be a short run

Don't worry, even with a mintage of 30 something million, soon they will be circulating and you'll find them in your change.

Erm, just for perspective, there are 300 million Americans making the mintage 1 coin in 10 persons. Yeah, they'll be in your change, right where I found them, but they will be sparse.

But how many solid rolls will you find??? Unless someone decides to collect them and eventually sell them as rolls. "P" dimes will be much easier to find, hell there's almost 100 M of them, but nickels...not so much.

I think they will be found but they will be more mixed in with regular coins as opposed to solid rolls. Solid bank rolls will be the key for nickels and "D" dimes.

I wonder if some of the bidders for this auction might be confused and think they are getting an entire roll of nickels, as opposed to just ONE which is what the auction is actually offering.

Re: 1st 2009 P Jefferson Nickel on Ebay

Makes me want to go to the bank and ask for a HUGE box EACH of nickles and dimes.

Then take 'em back if they are like the 100 silver eagles I got last year with NO 2007 reverse! I keep 'em cause the US GIVERMINT :36_1_32v: might stop MINTING!

Paper is cheaper than the real STUFF! :signs14:

Ain't that a kick in the head?

Was at an Auction last night, Bric a Brac mainly but they had 2 Silver certificates, very circulated and worn, and they went to $13.00 each, damn the sheeple don't have a clue as to the true value of stuff.

Spoke to a woman about silver, she had a "friend" who tried to tell me yesterday that he could get silver at $13 per face $1!!! All the local places in New Orleans are not quoting over 10x buy. Talk about a BS artist. These folks are buying silver locally cheap and trying to BS the local about it being worthless and when I tried to buy some off of them, the BS got deeper. There was a partial 1976 Bicen Proof set with the quarter missing and a 1964 half proof. I tried to buy the stuff but she did not know what price to ask and she called her friend who said he could get 13x in New Jersey, I would pay 15 for the silver dollars (ave circ) but not 13x for about $10 worth of stuff. Something smells here, whats your take.

Sheeple gone crazy.

I'd love to ask him how serving in Iraq is protecting our freedoms while letting Congress and the White House put a 100 mile no-constitution border around this country somehow makes us more free.

That is why you always read the auction. The picture is not meant to trick people into thinking it is a roll, it is to show that the coin will come from a fresh bank roll. The description and title clearly state it is for a nickel not for a roll.

On a side note I just had 2 rolls of dimes sell for $212.49 and $209.99 respectively. Not bad for $10 worth.
